Another Great Year

It’s been another great year! Thank you for all you have done this year to support our school! We are grateful for the wonderful children and great families we are able to work with each day! We all consider it a blessing to be able to work at such a great school and be a part of a supportive community!! We have a lot of successes to celebrate this school year!! We greatly appreciate the support of our parents who volunteer in so many ways to serve our students and staff. When reflecting on the year, we have much to be proud of!! Some of the accomplishments of the year include:

  • Began musical performances for each grade level. These became so popular, that we had to move them to Christ Church!
  • Started quarterly awards assemblies for each grade level to recognize academic, social/emotional, citizenship, and special area accomplishments.
  • Successful PTA Read a Thon that raised $35,000!
  • Another blockbuster Book Fair!
  • Fantastic Talent Show that allowed over 100 students to showcase their talents!
  • First ever Trucks and Tunes Festival that was a huge hit!
  • Kindergarten successfully held a first ever Math Escape night!
  • Inspiring Veteran’s Day program that honored the men and women who served our country.
  • First ever Father/Daughter Dance that was attended by over 150 of our girls and a special date!
  • First ever Mother/Son Event that will be held later this week.
  • As of May 10, 2017, our students had earned 38,811.6 AR points and read 189,375,275 words!!
  • Six new after school clubs (Astronomy, Cooking, Tennis, Dance, Sign Language, and Garden) were created!
  • Debate team finished 2nd in the city with many individual students receiving speaker awards.
  • Mrs. Andrea Davis was named Granbery’s Teacher of the Year!
  • Dr. Paula Pendergrass (our ENCORE teacher) was named Metro Nashville Elementary Teacher of the Year!
  • Our garden continues to grow with the addition of a covering for the outdoor classroom and new vegetables planted this spring! Get ready for pumpkins and watermelons later in the season!
  • Mr. Hayes was named a CMA distinguished music teacher!
  • The 4th Grade Granbery Recycling Force was created to help with our weekly recycling initiative.
  • The 4th Grade Gecko Tones performed at the Christ Church annual Christmas concert!
  • Our school community gave back and gathered care baskets and blankets and delivered them to Bethany Health Care Center.
  • Midtown Fellowship and Christ Church teamed up to provide food baskets and Christmas gifts for several of our families in need.
  • Granbery’s diversity continues to grow and we love it! We now have children that were born in 19 different countries that speak 31 languages!
